When asked during the recent Intelligence Squared debate about Bitcoin compared to his early investments in Hotmail, Skype and Tesla, Tim Draper said Bitcoin will be, "bigger than all of those combined." He even went a bit further by saying it will be bigger than the Internet as a whole.
Tim Draper, the renowned venture capitalist and founder of Draper Associates and DFJ, stands behind his prediction that Bitcoin will reach a quarter million US dollars in value within the next four years time.
Draper's opinion is valued by many due to his earlier and accurate predictions with current big name investments. Now, he's saying Bitcoin will be bigger than many of his earlier big investments put together. In fact, he seems to think Bitcoin will be bigger than all the Internet.
"This is bigger than the internet. It's bigger than the Iron Age, the Renaissance. It's bigger than the Industrial Revolution," Draper said at the Intelligence Squared US debate. "This affects the entire world and it's going to be affected in a faster and more prevalent way than you ever imagined."
"In five years you are going to try to go buy coffee with fiat currency and they are going to laugh at you because you're not using crypto. I believe that there will be a point at which you will no longer really want any of the fiat currency."
Draper is not alone in his predictions about the crypto revolution’s future. Many venture capitalists and cryptocurrency experts are predicting big gains in the industry very soon, although some disagree on when Bitcoin will reach the big numbers or if it’ll be another altcoin that will take over. Men like Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, John McAfee, Thomas Lee and Jack Dorsey are all projecting Bitcoin to see tremendous gains in the near future. LDJ Capital Founder & Chairman David Drake says we could see Bitcoin easily reach 30K in value by the end of 2018.
