Martin Mühleisen who serves as the Director of the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department (SPR) of the IMF talks about the digital revolution and cryptocurrencies in the June 2018 issues of Finance & Development magazine.

In part Mühleisen goes over how the digital revolution along with computing power is increasingly changing our lives and that we need to “fully exploit the digital revolution benefits while minimizing job dislocation.”

In regards to cryptocurrencies Mühleisen says that big changes are underway with the global banking industry due to the ease in which anonymous cryptocurrency exchange operates. The advent of cryptocurrencies have given us blockchain technology and it’s that technology which will,”revolutionize finance by making transactions faster and more secure, while better information on potential clients can improve the pricing of loans through better assessment of the likelihood of repayment.”
