After a mere five months Facebook has decided to reverse its blanket ban on all forms of cryptocurrency advertisements.
In late January of this year Facebook became the first social media company to ban any and all cryptocurrency advertisements. It wasn’t long after that others followed, which included Twitter as well as the search engine giant Google.
Now Facebook is doing something that should have been done in the first place - an application process. Essentially Facebook is vetting potential cryptocurrency advertisers.
While the screening process for cryptocurrency advertisers will rid most of the scams, Facebook will still leave open advertisements to be flagged for inspection. Rob Leathern, the Product Management Director at Facebook, said that Facebook will be looking at feedback from users to study the new policy, see how it works, and if necessary see that it’s revised over time.
