Ethereum is currently the 2nd largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Data shows that it can overtake Bitcoin as the leader due to the fact that Ethereum has more unique and active addresses than Bitcoin.
There is no question that Ethereum is growing in popularity at an ever increasing rate. Data shows that it recently passed up over 110 million unique Google searches and has processed over 240 million transactions. The 24 hours leading up to June 4, 2018, the network processed more than 1.3 million transactions, which was new record.
As the 2nd largest cryptocurrency by market cap, Ethereum has doubled its number of unique and active address since late 2017 with 100 thousand new registrations daily. It has 35 million unique addresses, about 10 million more than Bitcoin as of March 2018.
This data comes by way of Consensys, which is a blockchain venture studio that creates DApps on Ethereum.
