Bithumb, along with a South Korean mobile payment network, will help make virtual currencies a payment option at over 6,000 outlets according to a report by the Korea Times.
"We have taken a landmark step," a Bithumb official said. "We will try hard to set up an environment in which cyptocurrencies are used extensively."
The recent announcement comes after Korea Pay’s Service, S. Korea's leading mobile payment provider, agreed to partner up with Bithumb. This momentous partnership will give approximately 200 franchise brands the option to allow customers to pay with cryptocurrency. Over 6,000 outlets will have the available option to start followed by another 8,000 more by the end of the year.
